i+R Group is training 107 apprentices in 16 apprenticeship trades, 35 new apprentices start their training
Lauterach, 1 September 2022 – The Lauterach based i+R Group is heading into autumn with 35 new apprentices. This means that the group companies i+R, Huppenkothen and MARTIN are training a total of 107 young people to become skilled workers. The family business offers 16 different apprenticeships, making it one of the largest training companies in Vorarlberg. The new company-owned training workshop for the apprenticeship professions of structural and civil engineering and concrete construction at the Lauterach i+R Campus is also nearing completion.
"Within our companies, dual training in the form of apprenticeships has always been an important building block of training skilled workers for the future and so counteracting the shortage of skilled workers", say the owners of i+R Group Joachim Alge and Reinhard Schertler. The group depends on the expertise of the training team and modern, future-oriented training workshops and believes in providing attractive benefits, such as outdoor days and a bonus system for apprentices. All training companies have been awarded the title of "Outstanding Training Company" by the State of Vorarlberg and the Chamber of Commerce.
New training workshop
The only private training workshop for construction professions in Vorarlberg is currently being built at the i+R Campus in Lauterach. "This will help us to support the apprentices even better in addition to vocational school and practical training on construction sites and lead to them successfully completing their apprenticeships", say Alge and Schertler, adding that: "This year has been a remarkable success with regard to training: All five apprentices in the civil engineering apprenticeship completed their apprenticeship with distinction."
16 different apprenticeships
107 apprentices are being trained by the group in 16 different disciplines as of 1 September 2022. Construction machinery specialist Huppenkothen is currently training 56 apprentices at various branches in Austria and Switzerland, mainly in the profession of construction machinery mechanic. There are currently 13 young people in apprenticeships at the steel processing company MARTIN in Ludesch - most of them are learning the profession of mechanical engineering technician. In the building trade, a total of 38 apprentices are being trained in building construction and civil engineering, concrete construction, carpentry, carpentry technician, carpentry technician and information technology. Across all apprenticeships, a total of 35 young people are starting their training today.
Learning support
Valuable support is also offered by the LehreUp programme of the Dornbirn youth services (OJAD): Apprentices who need special support in general education subjects, such as German, mathematics or English, are taught there in small groups to help them make up for any shortcomings. "This offer has proven itself especially helpful in supporting apprentices with poorer school records. We can also often help apprentices with migrant backgrounds to complete their apprenticeships", says Joachim Alge of the initiative.
